Sri Jagannath - Rath Yatra
Ratha Yatra, festival of Chariots originated 5,000 years ago in India, in a city called Jagannatha Puri. This annual event is held to honor Lord Jagannatha, which means Lord of the Universe. Lord Jagannatha is a particular Deity form of Lord Krishna, The chariots are accompanied by a procession of devotees who are ecstatically dancing and chanting the Lord’s Holy Names and mahamantra: Tampa ISKCON is part of organizing two Rath yatra events in the Tampa Bay area - Clearwater Rath Yatra (during April) and Hindu Temple Rath Yatra (during June); the event includes procession of the chariots, kirtans, cultural events, and sumptuous “prasadam” More details and the upcoming date/schedule please visit: http://festivalofchariots.org/
